FastPokeMap Remains As The Best Pokémon Go Map Scanner

The most popular Pokémon Go map scanner, FastPokeMap has tightened their security and closed down third party API access to stop others from scraping their data. This means that many trackers that depend on their API will stop working.

GO Scan is closing down

Pokémon Go latest version forced the game to update, and development teams did mention that the 0.39.1 API is not yet reverse engineered. So there will be more third party trackers that will stop working.

The GO Scan team has decided to pull the plug, and they did mention that their IP addresses are banned. Using the old API will instantly flag the IP. In their last moment, the GO Scan team wrote a farewell message on reddit:
“Looks like Niantic has thrown a wrench at us that we can’t (or have no motivation to) get past. It was a fun ride. I just want to say thanks again to the devs in this sub that made our run possible and thanks to all the users that helped identify problems.
Some stats:

  • Downloads: 102,000
  • Total scans made: 8,622,780
  • Most scans in an hour: 29,213
  • Pokemon found: 9,853,110

Take care all, and good luck with your future endeavors :)”

OpenPokeMap shuts down their services

The open source OpenPokeMap project has shut down their backend services as well. This comes as no surprise as Niantic Labs is working hard to block third party Pokémon Go apps. Since the release of Pokémon Go 0.37.0, Niantic is tightening the security with new encryption.

Niantic is taking its time to slowly unleash new security measures, blocking third party trackers. One of the reason might be that they are still working on the new in-app tracker system. The nearby tracker is still being tested in San Francisco, yet to be released to all trainers.

FastPokeMap still working

The biggest Pokémon Go map tracker is still up and running. They have decided to lock down their API access to protect their data against scrapers. The team did make an announcement in reddit:

“Ok so a few people were concerned about the recent lockdown on my API.

I never said i didn’t intend to open it to a few apps + personnal projects, i’m just trying to control it. 6 out tof 7 requests were request not through my site. Made the site slow for my users + lost potential revenue to break even.

Anyway, for people using my website, you probably noticed scans were faster the past 24H.”

There is no end in sight for FastPokeMap. If the tracker that you used stopped working recently, most probably they are scraping data from here and you can head over to FastPokeMap which is still working.
