Pokémon Go First Official Event – Halloween

Pokémon Go might be having its first event at the end of this month, on Halloween.

On their official Facebook page, Niantic posted a Halloween teaser which hinted that trainers may run into more Pokémon than usual. Also in the picture is a screenshot of Haunter, a Ghost type Pokémon.

Here is the full post from Niantic:

With Halloween around the corner, we anticipate Trainers may encounter more Pokémon in the real world. The AR camera is a great way to capture and share these encounters with your friends!

Some players are suggesting that Ghost type Pokémon spawns may be increased during this Halloween event. This would certainly make sense, since they are hinting of more Pokémon encounters plus a screenshot of a Ghost type Pokémon.

John Hanke, CEO of Niantic Labs has mentioned before that special Pokémon Go events will happen some time in the future. “If you want to predict the future, look at the past,” said John Hanke. “A lot of what we’re doing with Pokémon Go we learned through three years of work with Ingress – building up the game around the world, maturing the technology, the social aspect of it. The events for Ingress are the lifeblood of the game. I think you can expect to see things like that in Pokémon Go. This type of game lends itself well to people coming together for big events that are part competitive, part social.”
