Looking for Shiny Greavard in Pokémon GO? Halloween 2026 Part II is your chance to try. The event runs from Sunday, November 1 at 10:00 a.m. to Thursday, November 5 at 8:00 p.m. in your local time zone, and it brings Greavard’s Shiny debut, costumed encounters, and a new Super Max Mega Level for Sableye.

This guide focuses on what to do first, what you can get for free, and which deadlines are easy to miss. All event details come from the official Pokémon GO Part II announcement, published October 8, 2026. The event has a fixed end date, so treat this as a November 2026 guide rather than permanent gameplay advice.

Halloween 2026 Part II: dates and quick facts

  • Event: November 1, 10:00 a.m. to November 5, 8:00 p.m., local time.
  • Big debut: Shiny Greavard can appear for lucky Trainers.
  • Other targets: costumed Rowlet, Spooky Festival Gengar, hat-and-capelet Pikachu, and bow-wearing Sinistea.
  • Mega change: Mega Sableye becomes eligible for Super Max Level and the additional Charged Attack Night Shade+.
  • Free reward: Timed Research with six Rare Candies and an encounter with bow-wearing Sinistea.
  • Separate reward deadline: unlocked Halloween GO Pass rewards expire November 7 at 8:00 p.m., local time.

The event uses local time. If you’re playing while traveling, follow the time shown by your current location rather than converting from a US announcement.

How to find Shiny Greavard

Greavard’s Shiny form becomes available in Pokémon GO for the first time during this event. The official announcement identifies three ways to encounter Greavard: in the wild, through GO Pass tasks, and from event-themed Field Research tasks. A Shiny is possible, not guaranteed.

  1. Check wild Greavard whenever you see one. You do not need to wait for a raid to look for this species during Part II.
  2. Work on your Halloween GO Pass. Look at the rewards and tasks available in your own account; the pass is already active from October 27.
  3. Spin PokéStops and inspect Field Research. The event includes themed research encounters. The exact task and encounter available can vary, so read the in-game reward before deciding what to keep.
  4. Make time for repeat encounters. A Shiny chance is not a promise, and the official event notice does not provide a numerical Shiny rate.

One important distinction: the announcement says Greavard can be Shiny, but it does not say every encounter is boosted or that a specific number of checks will produce one. Avoid guides that invent odds.

Which other Pokémon are featured?

The event’s wild encounters include Litwick, Rowlet wearing a Pokémon Halloween costume, and Greavard. You may also encounter Gengar wearing a Spooky Festival costume. These listed encounters can be Shiny if you’re lucky, according to the official event notice.

If you prefer raids, the announced one-star raid lineup includes Pikachu wearing a hat and capelet and Sinistea wearing a bow. Both have a possible Shiny encounter. This is useful if you want the costume rather than simply collecting another wild Greavard.

Do not confuse the Part II lineup with every encounter from Part I. Some older Halloween guides combine both halves and can send you looking for a Pokémon in the wrong activity.

Mega Sableye: what Super Max actually changes

Halloween Part II also introduces Super Max Mega Level for Mega Sableye. This is an upgrade path, not an automatic gift. You must first reach the third Mega Level, Max, before you can progress to Super Max, and the additional progression requires spending Sableye Mega Energy. Simply Mega Evolving repeatedly is not sufficient for that final upgrade.

Eligible Super Max Pokémon can use an additional Charged Attack while Mega Evolved. For Sableye, the new attack is Night Shade+. The official event details list a base power of 55 in Trainer Battles and 160 in Raid Battles, with its power increasing alongside Sableye’s Mega Level.

That makes this update interesting for players who already invested in Sableye. Newer players should not assume they can jump directly to Super Max on day one. For background on the progression system, see our Pokémon GO Mega Levels guide.

Claim the free Timed Research before November 5

Part II includes free Timed Research whose tasks are automatically completed for all Trainers. The rewards include six Rare Candies and an encounter with Sinistea wearing a bow, which can also be Shiny if you’re lucky.

Automatically completed does not mean automatically collected. Open the research screen and claim the rewards yourself. Both the tasks and their rewards expire Thursday, November 5 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Missing that deadline means missing these event-specific rewards.

If you have only a few minutes to play, claiming this research is the simplest task to prioritize. It does not require buying the Deluxe pass.

Halloween GO Pass: free bonuses versus paid Deluxe

The Halloween GO Pass runs from October 27 at 10:00 a.m. to November 5 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Trainers receive the free pass automatically and earn GO Points to climb ranks. It offers themed encounters, Candy, Rare Candy, Ultra Balls, and other rewards.

The milestone bonuses matter if you’re catching lots of event Pokémon:

  • Rank 10: 2× catch Candy with the free pass, or 3× with Deluxe.
  • Rank 20: 2× catch Stardust with the free pass, or 3× with Deluxe.

The announced US price for GO Pass Deluxe is $7.99. A $9.99 Deluxe + 10 Ranks option includes enough GO Points to reach Rank 11. Deluxe adds further rewards, including additional encounters, cosmetic clothing, Rare Candy XL, and Premium Battle Passes. Local prices and availability may differ by region.

Buying Deluxe is optional. If your goal is to check Greavard encounters and claim free research, start with the free content before deciding whether the paid rewards suit you. Most importantly, unclaimed GO Pass rewards expire November 7 at 8:00 p.m. local time, two days after the main event ends.

A practical plan for the remaining event days

  1. First login: claim the free Timed Research rewards so you don’t forget them.
  2. During walks: check wild Greavard, spin PokéStops for event Field Research, and make progress on the GO Pass.
  3. If you want costumes: inspect one-star raids for hat-and-capelet Pikachu or bow-wearing Sinistea.
  4. If you already have a strong Mega Sableye: review your Mega Level and energy before committing resources to Super Max.
  5. Before November 5, 8:00 p.m.: finish event research and GO Pass progression. Before November 7, 8:00 p.m., claim unlocked pass rewards.

Bottom line: Shiny Greavard is the headline, but the easiest guaranteed value is the free Timed Research. The biggest avoidable mistake is overlooking the two different reward deadlines. Shiny encounters remain luck-based, and the developer notes that event details may change.
